چکیده
Teach Yourself CORBA in 14 Days is a tutorial that will provide an introduction to distributed system development using CORBA. The first week will provide the reader with much needed guidance towards the general concepts of distributed software development and CORBA architecture such as Object Request Broker (ORBs), and Interface Definition Language (IDL). It will build upon the principles of object-oriented analysis and design, with concepts of distributed objects, and other key CORBA-related issues such as memory management and design patterns forced by the CORBA architecture. The second week will take everything the reader has learned to that point, and apply it in a step-by-step manner for building a CORBA-based system. In addition to the basics, the reader will learn a few of the key advanced concepts and higher-level services that are sometimes required for certain CORBA.

A formal notation and tool for the engineering of CORBA systems
CORBA is a standard proposed by the Object Management Group (OMG) in order to promote interoperability between distributed object systems. CORBA provides a programming-language neutral Interface Definition Language (IDL) that describes the syntactic aspects of services supported by remote objects. However, CORBA IDL does not provide any means to specify the behavior of objects in an abstract an...
متن کاملA model for parallel programming over CORBA
Existing models for parallel programming over Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) do not address issues specific to parallel programming over a Network of Workstations (NOWs). This paper presents P-CORBA, a model for parallel programming over CORBA that addresses these issues. Transmission and distribution of computing power of a NOW is facilitated by P-CORBA. The main contributio...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Model for Programming Distributed Real-Time Applications in CORBA
CORBA is a middleware with open standardization that is receiving plenty of acceptance for facilitating the distributed objects programming. CORBA is being extended through the specification of interfaces and necessary abstractions for supporting applications with real-time constraints. The use of CORBA in the contemporary real-time systems is adequate to meet the new requirements of flexibilit...
متن کاملOn the Role of Interceptors and AOP in Adapting CORBA Applications
∗ This work is partially supported by the Brazilian Agency CNPq project 552007/2002-1. Abstract. In this paper we describe two meta-programming strategies that have been used to extend CORBA-based applications with minimal or no impact on existing application code: CORBA interceptors and aspect-oriented programming (AOP). We compare the benefits of using AOP with those of exploiting interceptor...
